Beautiful Indonesia: Nusa Lembongan Island Side

Bali's island neighbors to the east: Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida are still part of the Bali province and culturally very similar to their big sister to the west. The religion is still Balinese Hindu, however since these islands are so small the culture of the local people revolves around the ocean and other rural lifestyles. Besides tourism, one of the main industries in Lembongan, Ceningan and Penida is seaweed farming. This blog post from Bali Soul Journals is very helpful in understanding the nitty gritty of the industry. Most of the product is shipped to China and Japan and used in cosmetics and can be used as fillers and thickeners.

Besides the amazing diving, snorkeling, surfing and other water sports the island has to offer, a motorbike drive around the island is well worth every second, you can enjoy the villages, the views, and the mangroves. Enjoy the photos!
